Light Up KI
As we emerged from the pandemic, the Chamber felt it was time to show our appreciation to the community, its businesses, and organizations in a very visual way. So, we conceived an idea to “Light Up KI”. The event is designed to be a family friendly, promotional activity for our island.
The event is also designed to be a family-friendly way to explore the island. We hope that when folks are making their Labor Day Weekend plans, they will be enticed by an event that encourages them to explore the island at night.
Island homes, businesses, and boats docked at our marinas will be encouraged to decorate with lights and decoration during Labor Day Weekend 2022 as a show of pride for our community. We will be partnering with a fellow island nonprofit, the Kelleys Island Landowners Association (KILA), to advertise this event to homeowners. We will also be partnering with the local businesses, specifically the marinas, to encourage their patrons to decorate.
Boaters and homeowners are encouraged to register. Registration form will be posted closer to the event.
Homes and boats will be judged by a predetermined panel in separate categories and winners will be given desirable prizes. We will also distribute kits filled with glow sticks, necklaces and bracelets, and other light up items to our local businesses so they can then give them away to their customers as a fun extra.
Saturday night, the official judging will occur.
